Calvin Translation Project in Albania

Berti and Jenny Kona
GPTS Alumnus Rev. Albert "Berti" Kona is working on translating John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion into Albanian and is seeking financial support for this project.

Rev. Kona is a pastor on staff of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Simpsonville, S.C. and has returned to his native Albania to plant the first Reformed church in that country, which, during the Cold War, was known as the most militantly and officially atheistic countries in the world.

"This project is done with the gospel hope that the Lord of the Church will use this sharp tool in Albania as mightily as He has used it elsewhere," says GPTS truestee and Woodruff Road Pastor Carl Robbins.

Seminary President Dr. Joseph A. Pipa, Jr., adds, "Think how the Institutes will further reformation in
Albania. This project is worthy of your prayers and support."

Theologian J.I. Packer, in his endorsement of the project, calls the Institutes "one of the wonders of the literary world ... one of the wonders of the spiritual world — the world of doxology and devotion, of discipleship and discipline, of word-through-Spirit illumination and transformation of individuals."

Mission to Albania is seeking $21,900 to complete the translation project, which involves 1,824 pages and more than 4 million characters.

Checks may be written payable to  WRPC Missions and designated for "Institutes into Albanian." Mailing address: WRPC Missions, 2519 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville SC 29681. Information: bertikona@gmail.com and www.missiontoalbania.com. Cell phone: +355682121625.
